The Blender software is a fantastic tool with an incredible range of parameters and settings. Even without installing any additional add-on it comes along with astonishing capabilities. Every single aspect for creating, texturing, illuminating and rendering is supported with numerous tools. Working with Blender on a Linux machine makes it for me the perfect workbench, fast and reliable.
Especially in the version 2.79b Bender added a new Shader: "The Principled BSDF". Compared to the complexity creating metallic surface with the Node Editor, the new Shader simplifies this process dramatically. If you are planning to try Blender yourself, make sure you use the latest version.
The best of all: Blender is Open Source Software, a fantastic masterpiece of technical software!
